How to update the twonky server to a newer version 2. This NAS doesn't allow me to add new apps, or setup another dlna server unless I do some linux programming. From reading through a lot of material, I take it the Twonky server on my WD MyBookLive (2TB black) is older. I tried accessing these media servers via the PS3 and they work fine. but shows up when I copy to the local hard drive. Just for testing I also tried PS3 media server and Plex media servers, but this time, my files are not showing when they are in the network location. the fast forward didn't work with the direct buttons, but the tools/search menu offers a time bar now (which wasn't there before), so all is good!Ģ. I used windows media player to share the same files from the network, and I was able to pause. Thanks for the comments tried a few other DLNA servers, and you were right - the problem seems to be with Twonky.ġ.

for example, if i play the same file (even a good 1080p rip) doesn't have the same smoothness when played through roku media player. especially on moving scenes, it is a lot more smoother. I would very much like to play the media on the samsung tele (through a usb or dlna) - maybe you can tell more about this, but i feel the same video file played through other methods lose quality.
also I access the same files through many other players on mobile/ipad (but the roku playback probably is the closest comparison)Ģ.
When I use a roku 3 (files are accessed through roku media player and via dlna), I am able to pause and fast forward - so I am guessing this is not about dlna. When i copy the same files onto a usb drive and plug it to the tv directly, the same player works fine with all controls.ġ. This is regardless of the file type (mp4, mkv). I have a Mybook live NAS drive (uses Twonky), and when playing video files through dlna on my samsung smart tv (ue46f6500) I am not able to pause/rewind/fast forward. I am wondering if anyone can help / share some knowledge on this scenario.
